sad joke on a marae response

 this poem was  about a Maori man who grew up not learning anything about his language. he went to a marae and shouted tihei mauri ora as that was the only sentence he knew in Te reo Maori. He talked to the taniwha about his sins and the feelings he felt; anger, envy, sadness, shame, desperation and fear.

this is my understanding of Tu begging with all his feeling surrounding him.
